E-CLUB PROGRAM

PRESIDING TODAY IS: Richard Phalunas

bellDing! We’re now in session.

Welcome all – visitors, fellow Rotarians and guests alike to this E-Club program!

Remember the Four-Way Test!

At the beginning of each meeting we remind ourselves of the The Four-Way Test.  Therefore, please remember to ask yourself always . . .

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Rotary Responds to Crisis in Ukraine

This past February, Rotary International released the following statement on the Ukraine crisis:

It is a tragic and sad time for the people of Ukraine and the world.

At Rotary, we are deeply concerned by the deteriorating situation in Ukraine and the escalating loss of life and humanitarian hardship there. Continued military action against Ukraine will not only devastate the region, but also risk spreading tragic consequences across Europe and the world.

As one of the world’s largest humanitarian organizations, we have made peace the cornerstone of our global mission. We join the international community in calling for an immediate cease fire, withdrawal of Russian forces, and a restoration of diplomatic efforts to resolve this conflict through dialogue.

In the past decade, Rotary clubs in Ukraine, Russia and nearby countries have transcended national differences and have actively engaged in peace-building projects to promote goodwill and to marshal assistance for the victims of war and violence. Today, our thoughts are with our fellow Rotary members and others in Ukraine coping with these tragic events. Rotary International will do everything in its power to bring aid, support and peace to the region.

The following links provide an overview of only some of the many ways that Rotary International, The Rotary Foundation, Rotary Zones, Districts, and Clubs from all around the world have been active in providing assistance at this time of crisis in Ukraine.

Then, to learn more, first-hand from Rotarians in Ukraine, about the crisis and assistance needed, on June 1, 2022, an international Rotary Multi-Club meeting was held via Zoom and FaceBook livestream. This meeting focused on current humanitarian needs in Ukraine. More than 1000 individuals attended this meeting, with registrants listing home countries such as Canada, USA, Ukraine, Trindad & Tobago, India, Poland, and Mexico, and more!. (This meeting was hosted by the Rotary Club of McMurray, PA, USA, along with the Rotary Clubs of Edina Morningside, MN, USA and Cleveland, OH, USA. The program featured Charter President Oksana Tjupa from the Rotary Club of Kyiv International, District 2232 Governor Volodymyr Bondarenko, and Immediate Past District Governor and Region 24 Pubic Image Coordinator, Mykola Stebjlanko.)  Below is the link to a recording of the meeting, which extended for almost an hour:

The July, 2022, the Rotary Magazine published the following update on Rotary support for Ukraine:

The support that Rotarians are providing from all over the world – through Rotary, as well as through other means, is astounding!  But, would we expect anything less from Rotary?! We hope this very brief overview of what Rotary has been doing to provide humanitarian assistance in Ukraine, is helpful!  Certainly, the material included in this MSRE program is more than is usual for presentation for one Rotary “weekly” program.  Therefore, we hope you will use this program as a starting point for your exploration of what Rotary is doing, and what consideration you might make, to IMAGINE ROTARY as it responds to the crisis in Ukraine.

AND . . . BTW . . . did you know that there is a Rotary E-Club in Ukraine?  Below is a link:
